Service Agreement & Terms of Service

Archived copy, Version 3

Archived version 3

This is a copy of our Terms of Service as they were in effect from October 28, 2026 through October 30, 2026. It is kept so you can see exactly what applied to a booking made in that period. The wording below this notice is unchanged. See the current Terms or the full change log.

By scheduling a service with Orlando Holiday Lighting (“Company”), the client (“Customer”) agrees to the following terms and conditions. Orlando Holiday Lighting is independently owned and operated by Machine Rythm LLC.

1. Scope of Service & Installation

  • Installation only: Standard installation services include hanging Customer-provided or Company-supplied Christmas and holiday lights, clips and timers along agreed-upon areas (for example rooflines, eaves, gables and ground stakes).
  • Exterior power access: Customer must provide access to a working exterior GFCI electrical outlet within a reasonable distance of the installation area. The Company is not responsible for tripped breakers or pre-existing electrical issues on the property.
  • Pre-existing lights: If the Customer provides their own lights, all lights and extension cords must be tested and in working condition before the crew arrives. The Company is not responsible for failed bulbs, faulty strands or pre-existing defects in Customer-owned equipment.
  • Permanent smart lighting installs: Permanent installs cover standard installation labor, mounting of the supplied system, testing, app setup and basic wire management. They do not include extension cords, timers, additional light sections, additional manufacturer components, electrical outlet installation, or specialty mounting hardware beyond standard installation requirements.

2. Payment Structure & Deposit Policy

  • Labor rate ($3.50 to $4.50 per linear foot): Seasonal holiday light installation labor is priced per linear foot of lights installed, from $3.50 to $4.50 per foot as a starting guide, depending on the scope of work. Factors that can move the rate include roof height, accessibility and complexity, difficult access, the installation method (clips or staples) and the location of the work (on the roof or under the eaves in the soffit area). This rate applies to seasonal holiday lighting only and does not apply to permanent smart lighting systems. Your rate is stated in your written quote and agreed with you before work begins. If the scope of work changes, the rate and total may change, and any change is discussed and agreed with you before the additional work is performed.
  • Business and custom jobs (up to $11 per linear foot): Installations for business owners and custom jobs can reach up to $11 per linear foot. The rate for these jobs is always determined and agreed with you before the installation begins. Refunds may be available on these jobs depending on the type of job.
  • Kinds of work and how jobs are priced: The Company does seasonal holiday light installs, permanent smart lighting installs, and events and parties. Each kind is priced differently, and every job is custom. Your price depends on your location and on how booked the Company is before the holiday. Within two weeks of a holiday counts as last-minute, and last-minute jobs depend on the Company’s availability. Permanent smart lighting projects are custom quoted based on roof height, linear footage, accessibility, wiring requirements, controller location and installation complexity, and are not priced using seasonal holiday light rates. Events and parties are quoted per event.
  • Lights and materials: Customers provide the lighting system. Installation pricing covers labor only unless otherwise stated in the written quote. The Customer provides light kits, extension cords, timers, smart controllers (if not included with the light kit), power supplies, additional accessories required by the manufacturer, and additional extension sections. Installation labor does not include customer materials. If the written quote says so, the Company shops for and buys materials for the Customer. Shopping is a separate job: planning and consultation, prep work, the drive to the store and the time in the store, shopping and buying with the Customer on the phone, packing, and the drive back. It is charged at cost plus 15% on the materials, or at a flat $75 per hour that usually takes about 3 hours or less, as stated in the written quote.
  • Website prices are estimates: Prices on the website, in social media posts and in online estimates are for informational purposes only. Final pricing is based on project scope, roof height, accessibility, materials provided, and installation complexity. Per-foot numbers are a guide and vary by job: a non-permanent install, an event and a regular install with no screwing into the soffit are priced differently, and trees, shrubs, rooflines, gables, roof pitch and access all change the work. Each job gets one written price for the whole job, set after a free consultation online, by phone or by text, and agreed with you before work begins. We book a job with a deposit, put you on the schedule, and then do the work. The written quote is the price for your job.
  • Booking deposit: To book, the Customer pays the deposit amount stated in the written quote. The deposit secures the installation date and is applied to the job. The amount is custom for each job (see “Deposits are custom per job” below). On many jobs it is 25% of the job quote, with a $350 minimum, and on some jobs it is higher.
  • Start of work: Any payment due when the Company starts the work is stated in the written quote. On many jobs it is a further 25%, which brings the total paid to half of the full job quote. When 50% was paid upfront, nothing further is due at the start.
  • Deposits are custom per job: Every deposit is custom for the job, based on the location, the Company’s job schedule, the weather season and how close the job is to a holiday. Sometimes 50% is required upfront before work starts because of those things. The written quote states the deposit for your job. The Company tells the Customer the exact deposit amount in the quote before the Customer pays, and does not ask for a deposit that differs from the written quote. When 50% is paid upfront, no separate start-of-work payment is due. The cancellation and refund schedule below is the same for every job.
  • Final balance (Net 90, bank transfer): The remaining 50% is due within 90 days after the installation is complete (Net 90) and is paid by bank transfer. This is the longest payment term the Company offers.
  • Cancellation and refunds: If the Customer cancels a booked job, the Company refunds a percentage of the payments made, based on how long before the scheduled installation date the Customer cancels. The Company keeps the rest, because a booking reserves crew scheduling and availability.
4 weeks or more before the install: 80% refund
2 weeks or more before the install: 75% refund
1 week or more before the install: 50% refund
3 days or more before the install: 25% refund
Less than 3 days before the install: no refund
  • Install guarantee: If the Company does not install on the scheduled date, the Company installs within 72 hours of that date or the Customer’s money is refunded in full. This is our money back guarantee. A date moved because of wet weather (see Section 7) is not a missed date, and the Company installs on the next dry day on its work schedule.
  • Accepted payment methods: The booking deposit and the start-of-work payment can be made as listed on the Customer Portal. The final balance is paid by bank transfer.

3. Service Calls, Return Visits & Holiday Rates

  • Service call fee ($75): A service call is a $75 flat fee to show up and diagnose the issue. This also applies when a crew is asked to return after the installation is complete and tested, and it covers gas, drive time and technician labor on-site.
  • If we can fix it: If we can fix the problem, you get a fair quote and you decide whether you want the service.
  • Exceptions: The fee applies to situation-dependent requests, such as the Customer changing timer settings, shifting light placement after initial sign-off, or resetting Customer-owned tripped outlets or breakers. If a return visit is required because of a direct installation error by our team, we come back at no charge and put you on our next visit list.
  • Holiday rates (triple): Service calls cost triple ($225) on the day before and the day of a holiday.
  • Last-minute calls: Last-minute calls are okay, subject to availability. Please test your lights well before guests arrive.
  • Availability: We are one truck and one guy covering Central Florida, Tampa and nearby areas, so please book early.

4. Travel Fee

  • When it applies: A travel fee may apply to jobs outside our core service area, based on the distance traveled and current market rates for mileage and drive time.
  • Quoted in advance: Any travel fee is included in your quote before you book, so there are no surprises.
  • Site visits before booking: We do consultations online, by phone and by text. A site visit before a deposit is rare, and it carries a trip charge for the drive. The trip charge is quoted before we come, because we do not drive around town for a maybe.
  • Separate from service calls: The travel fee is separate from the $75 service call fee in Section 3, which applies to service calls and return visits after the installation is complete.

5. Takedown Service & Policy

  • Unbundled service: Installation and takedown are separate services. Takedown is not included in the initial installation price unless explicitly stated on your invoice.
  • Takedown rate: Takedown is billed at 50% of the original installation price (or a standard fixed takedown fee).
  • Scheduling takedowns: Takedowns happen whenever you want to book and schedule them. Or leave your lights up all year. We do, ha ha!

6. Takedown Placement & Attic Policy (Crew Safety)

  • No storage service: We do not store customers' lights. After takedown your lights go back to you, as described below.
  • Default takedown placement: Upon removal, lights and accessories will be neatly spooled or coiled and placed in the Customer’s garage, porch or driveway.
  • Attic placement conditions: Crew members will only carry and store containers in an attic if all of the following are met:
    1. Storage containers are sturdy, hard-shell plastic or metal totes in good structural condition, with secure, flat-fitting lids.
    2. Bins are not overfilled, bulging or excessively heavy.
    3. Safe, clear and unblocked ladder or stairway access to the attic is provided.
  • Refusal of attic entry: Crews reserve the right to decline to enter attics or handle damaged, soft-sided, brittle or overfilled containers, for technician safety and property protection. In that case, lights will be left neatly packed in the garage or driveway.

7. Customer Property & Weather Disclaimer

  • Weather adjustments: The Company does not work in rain or in wet or damp conditions, because it is not safe and wet conditions ruin the work. If the weather is wet, the Company moves the installation date to the next dry day on its work schedule. The Company may also reschedule for ice or severe wind. A date moved for weather is not a missed date under the Install guarantee in Section 2.
  • Property care: Crews take great care on all roofs and gutters. The Company is not responsible for minor wear, pre-existing roof or gutter damage, or structural issues unrelated to direct installation error.

8. Online Store & Products

Storage containers, light reels and accessories ordered through OrlandoHolidayLighting.com are subject to standard online sales and shipping terms. Items purchased online and shipped to the Customer are owned directly by the Customer.

9. Promotions & Discounts

  • Senior discount: Customers 60 and over may qualify for a 10% discount. It is applied at the Company's discretion for each job, because no two jobs are the same. Tell us when you request your quote.
  • New customer offer: First-time customers get $500 off any job over $1,500. One per customer and property, applied to the final written quote before work begins.
  • No stacking: Discounts cannot be combined. If more than one applies, you receive the larger one.
  • Pricing is firm: Our rates are already set below typical Orlando market prices. The Company does not price match or discount below its posted rates. The senior discount and the new customer offer are the only reductions, and each is applied at the Company's discretion for each job.

Agreement

Booking a service online, paying the initial deposit, or approving a quote by text or email constitutes full acceptance of these terms.

Terms in effect when you book: The version of these terms in effect on the date you book applies to your job. We record every change to these terms with its date in our public change log, and a change made after you book does not apply to your job unless you agree to it. Earlier versions are kept and can be opened from the change log.
