How We Price Our Jobs

Holiday light installation pricing guide for Christmas, Halloween and New Year’s.

How Our Pricing Works

Every holiday light installation is unique. Two homes may use the same amount of lights but require very different amounts of labor, equipment and safety precautions.

Our pricing is based on the total installation effort, not just the number of feet being installed.

On labor-only installs, customers provide all lights and decorations.

We provide the labor, installation expertise, safety equipment and professional assessment needed to complete the project safely and correctly.

Understanding Linear Footage

Linear footage is the total amount of lights being installed throughout the property.

This may include:

  • Rooflines
  • Peaks and gables
  • Garages
  • Windows
  • Columns
  • Fencing
  • Bushes
  • Landscaping
  • Palm trees
  • Oak trees
  • Driveway entrances
  • Dock areas
  • Specialty decorative features

Example

A property may have:

  • 200 ft on rooflines
  • 100 ft on garage and entryways
  • 150 ft on trees
  • 150 ft on landscaping

Total installed footage:

600 linear feet

Why Two 600-Foot Jobs May Cost Different Amounts

Not all installations require the same amount of labor.

Easy installation

Examples: single-story home, ground-level shrubs, straight rooflines, open access. These projects typically require less setup time and carry lower risk.

Standard installation

Examples: multiple rooflines, moderate ladder use, medium-height trees, standard landscaping. These projects require additional labor and safety precautions.

Complex installation

Examples: multiple roof peaks, two-story homes, extensive tree wrapping, difficult access areas. These installations require significantly more labor and time.

Extreme installation

Examples: steep roofs, large commercial buildings, over-water installations, boat-access installations, elevated tree work, high-risk access situations. These projects require specialized safety planning and may require custom pricing.

Labor Intensity Matters

The amount of labor required often has a greater impact on pricing than the total footage itself.

Example A

600 feet installed along a fence line: minimal ladder work, easy access and lower risk.

Example B

600 feet installed on multiple roof peaks, tall palm trees, large oak trees and elevated architectural features. This project could require several times more labor even though the footage is identical.

Safety and Liability Considerations

Safety is a major factor in every installation. We evaluate:

  • Ladder height requirements
  • Roof pitch
  • Fall hazards
  • Electrical hazards
  • Water hazards
  • Access limitations
  • Structure condition
  • Weather exposure
  • Equipment requirements

Some installations carry significantly higher risks than others.

Example: Installing lights on a tree extending over a lake may require boat access, additional personnel, special safety procedures and increased liability exposure.

Because of these risks, special-access projects may require custom pricing regardless of footage.

What Affects Pricing?

Linear footage

The total amount of lights being installed.

Building height

Higher installations generally require more setup time and safety measures.

Roof complexity

Projects with multiple peaks, gables, dormers or architectural details require additional labor.

Tree wrapping

Tree wrapping can be one of the most labor-intensive parts of a project.

Accessibility

Properties with limited access, water features, fences, slopes or tight landscaping require more installation time.

Special equipment

Certain installations may require specialized ladders, lifts, boats or additional crew members.

Why We Review Certain Projects Manually

Online estimates are designed to give you a quick and accurate starting point. However, some projects require manual review. Examples include:

  • Large properties
  • Commercial buildings
  • Multi-story structures
  • Over-water installations
  • Boat-access projects
  • Extensive tree wrapping
  • Unusual architectural features

These projects are individually evaluated to ensure proper pricing and safety planning.

Risk determines the level of safety and liability involved.

All three factors are considered when calculating your installation price. This ensures each customer receives fair pricing based on the actual work being performed.
